I can’t describe how delighted I am that Practical Parenting & Pregnancy Magazine voted Our Story the best gift/keepsake for 2013 giving it their Gold award. It is always great to win awards, but even better when they are voted for by the people who actually use our journals – Mum’s and Dads!
It is hard to believe that this journal, together with Bump to Birthday, was only a rough draft about 18 months ago when I first met Lucy in a coffee shop half way between Bath and Tiverton.
We connected immediately. We both have a passion: for ensuring our children know about their history, for recording memories and we love documenting how special they are to us. Despite the geographical distance and the daily demands of being a mother, we worked closely together with an aim to make the journals easy and enjoyable for busy parents and parents-to-be to capture their thoughts, feelings and memories.
We did every thing ourselves from design, illustration, research, layout, publishing and printing – finally launching Our Story in February 2012. So to achieve this accolade is reward indeed.
Our children grow up so quickly and it gets harder to remember what they did and when they did it if we haven’t kept a record. Even at four my daughter loves to look back through the sections of Our Story that I have completed so I am glad that so many other children will also have something to look back on and treasure for ever.
